The Adult Basic Education Program is tailored to provide an array of educational services to the adult population of Southeastern Massachusetts. These include English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), which provides basic English grammar and conversational skills to non-English speakers; citizenship preparation, GED, and computer literacy are also offered through the ABE Program.
ABE students also have access to other support services at SER-Jobs, including educational counseling, assessment, as well as job search and placement. The overall goal of the program is to see the success of its students, and because of this strategy, its services are forever changing to meet their needs.
Classes are primarily held at our main building on Bedford Street, but occasionally will be held at an alternative location. Morning classes start at 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. and evening classes are held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. The morning classes do offer on-site daycare.
ABE has been offering services to the community for twenty-three years now and is funded through the Massachusetts Department of Education. There are no economic guidelines
for students; anybody 16 years and over may be enrolled.
