The Young Parents Program is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance and is only available to parents, ages 14-21, who receive Transitional Assistance to Families with Dependant Children(TAFDC) and have not graduated from high school. The program has seen hundreds of young Massachusetts residents earn their GED (General Educational Diploma) since its creation in 1991.
The program provides pre-GED and GED preparation, parenting skills, life skills and appropriate referrals to those teenagers who are just beginning their lives as parents. SER-Jobs recognizes that being a young parent is difficult so on-site child care and transportation are also available to students who need it. Y.P.P's goal is to help teenagers become self-sufficient and productive citizens.
The program has two locations, SER-Jobs' main building at 164 Bedford Street, Fall River, MA and at 26 Cohannet Street, Taunton, MA. Both locations offer the same services with classes scheduled from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.
